Student Advisory Services

Studying and high-performance sports

For students and prospective students

The University supports students who wish to balance their degree program and high-performance athletics. Both of these undertakings require a great deal of time and dedication. Therefore, it is recommended to familiarize yourself early on with the available options for planning your studies and accommodating your athletic activities.

Who counts as a high-performance athlete?

Those in possession of a Swiss Olympic card are considered to be high performance athletes:

What accommodations can be made for student athletes?

This depends on the degree program in question, the type of sport and what stage of the program the student is in. For that reason, we recommend kicking off your planning by scheduling an appointment with an academic advisor in order to align the requirements of your degree program with your competition schedule and also to get a realistic impression of the minimum time requirement for your studies.
In some cases, it can make sense to choose a degree program that is compatible with the demands of your athletic activities. Short-term adjustments require an application to be submitted to the dean’s office. In these cases, certain processes and deadlines need to be adhered to.
The dean’s office will stipulate the potential requirements.

What is the procedure for submitting an application?

We will gladly answer your questions and help you find the right people to contact. If you have to submit an application, for example to abruptly drop out of a course, we will assist you with this process.
